The DBA
On Demand™ service is a remote,
tele-consulting service, right?
Answer: NO. Tele-consulting is when you pay for a
consultant to do work, yet that work is done remotely. This service is
just like having a DBA working with you 24 hours a day. With
tele-consulting you pay for a block of time. With DBA
On Demand™ you
are getting service that includes a team of full time DBAs at your
disposal, proactive and reactive monitoring programs and many
production support services for your system.
Question:
What
if I already have a DBA?
Answer: There is a service level that best fits your needs. DBA
On Demand™ is
not meant to replace your DBA. DBA on Demand™ can be your only
DBA or your second DBA. If there is more work than one DBA can handle,
but not enough to justify a second, then DBA on Demand™ is the
answer. Additionally, DBA
On Demand™ can
be used to augment your current staff so they can focus on your
projects and take on specialty hard-to-find skills.
Question:
What
if, after I choose the service level that is the best fit for my
environment, I need additional on-site services? Can this be set
up?
Answer: YES. Any additional DBA services can always be
added as an integral part of the DBA
On Demand™ service
packages. Also, each DBA
On Demand™ customer
receives our SmartDog Scalable Consulting agreement that enables you to
receive discounted rates for all Oracle technology services that we
offer.
Question: How do
I know if I need 24x7 monitoring?
Answer:
If database uptime is important to you, then
24x7 monitoring will give you the confidence that downtime issues are
quickly identified and addressed.
Question:
If the
INTERMEDIATE service is the best fit for my environment, but I need
additional on-site services, can this be set up?
Answer:
YES. Additional services can always be added as
an integral part of the DBA
On Demand™ service
packages.
Question:
Is
someone actually there, or are they just on call?
Answer:
A team of DBAs dedicated to the service is
available 24 hours a day, and our programs are always monitoring your
database based on your service level.
