SmartDog Services, a leading Oracle consulting firm, has an immediate opening for a full-time Oracle Applications DBA to join our DBA on Demand team. In this role, you will enjoy the benefits of consulting for several clients and staying challenged with current technology, without the constant travel. This is a full-time, salaried position to work on a team of consultants as part of our DBA on Demand team. With SmartDog DBA on Demand, SmartDog Services has developed a comprehensive Oracle Database Support Service that is unmatched in the industry. DBA on Demand utilizes a team approach to ensure that customers receive an optimal level of support. No other company offers the depth, range, and experience of SmartDog Services in managing databases. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, maintain, perform, and test backup and recovery procedures Provide proactive performance monitoring, and capacity planning Administer and maintain security policies and procedures Perform installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations Patch, clone, and administer Oracle ERP applications Evaluate new trends and technologies and provide best practices and recommendations In addition, duties will include retainer based Oracle DBA and E-Business applications monitoring services, production support, project consulting work and technical sales support. The position will also include developing the skill sets of junior or intermediate level DBAs. The person hired for this position may be asked to travel to clients for occasional short duration assignments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate would have over 4 years experience in an Oracle Applications DBA role (including R12) and over 7 years experience with Oracle RDBMS. Experience with Oracle Application Server and RAC is a big plus. Customer service, time management and personal motivation is required. Current Oracle R12 Applications DBA skills for complex 24x7 environments. They should have hands-on architecture, installation, upgrade, production support and Discoverer (OBIEE Standard Edition) skills. Adherence to processes and understanding the importance of documentation is required. Deploying Oracle Applications in the DMZ is a definite plus. Supporting Oracle Applications Integration with Oracle SOA Suite is a definite plus. The candidate must be able to take scheduled 24 hour on-call shifts, be team and process oriented and able to work multiple high priority assignments at one time. The candidate should also have great oral and written communication skills due to a high level of interaction with customers. The candidate must also be able to work effectively with internal sales, management and delivery organizations.
